1 DAY ST. CATHERINE’S MONASTERY
- Depart Eilat early morning from the Taba border where you will transfer to Egypt and start your journey (about 3 hrs) into the Sinai desert with your Egyptian guide.
- Pass via Pharaoh’s Island, and the desert scenes of Bedouin tents and villages en route.
- Visit the monastery, built in 557 A.D.by the Emperor Justinian which lays at the foot of Mt. Sinai. Here, traditionally, G-d appeared to Moses in the form of a ‘burning bush’. The name given to the monastery honours Catherine, a Christian martyr who was sentenced to death by the Romans.
- See the traditional site of the Burning Bush and Well of Jethro’s Daughters.
- In the Monastery Garden, enter the Skull Room, and roam around the Olive Grove.
- Lunch and a short break for souvenir shopping.
- Possible swim along the Sinai coast.
- Return to Taba border.

SUNRISE ON MOUNT SINAI & ST. CATHERINE’S MONASTERY
- Depart Eilat late evening from the Taba border where you will meet your Egyptian crew and start your journey into the Sinai desert.
- Drive south along the shores of the Red Sea and then head west into the vast desert towards Mt. Sinai, traditional site where Moses received the Ten Commandments.
- Stop for a short coffee or tea break and start the climb at 2:00 a.m.
- The strenuous trek up Mt Sinai may have some of you huffing and puffing up the trail (approximately 3 hours), but once at the summit you can rest. The dawn of a new day and the changing hues of the horizon are well worth the effort.
- The climb down is much quicker and after your descent you will visit St. Catehrine’s Monastery, in honour of Catherine, a Christian martyr who was sentenced to death by the Romans. Greek Orthodox monks take care of the monastery, which was built in the 6th Century at the foot of Mt. Sinai.
- See the traditional site of the Burning Bush and Well of Jethro’s Daughters.
- In the Monastery Garden, enter the Skull Room, and roam around the Olive Grove.Breakfast at Santa Plaza and drive to Nuweiba.
- Lunch break.
- Return to Taba in the afternoon.

2 DAY ST. CATHERINE’S MONASTERY & MOUNT SINAI
Day 1
- Drive south, along the shores of the Red Sea via Nuweiba to the Sinai High Mountains Region.
- Time permitting, stop at the Rock of Inscriptions.
- Evening and overnight in St. Catherine hotel.
Day 2
- Rise very early to start the climb to Mt. Sinai. (breakfast box from hotel).
- The strenuous trek up Mt Sinai, may have some of you huffing and puffing up the trail (approximately 3 hours). (Optional hiring of camels by Siqat Abass Path).
- At the summit, a guided panoramic view of the area, with the dawn of a new day and the changing hues of the horizon, are well worth the effort.
- The climb down is much quicker and after your descent, via Stephanus Gate, (3000 steps) visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, in honour of Catherine, a Christian martyr who was sentenced to death by the Romans. Greek Orthodox monks take care of the monastery, which was built in the 6th Century at the foot of Mt. Sinai.
- See the traditional site of the Burning Bush and Well of Jethro’s Daughters.
- In the Monastery Garden, enter the Skull Room, and roam around the Olive Grove.
- Lunch optional at a restaurant in a nearby Bedouin Village.
- Time permitting an optional stop in Nuweiba.

2 DAY CAIRO
Day 1

- Visit the Mohammed Ali Castle.
- Return to Taba.

- Arrive in Cairo and visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, famous for its antiquities dating back about 50 centuries, including the great archaeological treasures from Tutankhamen’s tomb. (A visit to the Mummy room entails an additional 100 LE p.p.)
- After lunch visit a papyrus institute for a demonstration of how paper was made and an explanation of hieroglyphics.
- Travel to your hotel for overnight and a free evening.

Day 2: Cairo to St. Catherine
- Visit the Cairo Pyramids, the only remaining wonder of the ancient world, and as such, the world’s oldest tourist attraction, and the Sphinx.
- Tour ancient Cairo, starting with a visit to the Coptic Church and then visit the Synagogue of Ben Ezra, Cairo’s oldest synagogue.
- Continue on to the Citadel of Saladin.
- Visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar – packed with spices, perfume, copper-ware and trinkets, where those who wish to can barter and purchase souvenirs.
- After a break at a local cafe, depart Cairo, driving to the Suez Canal tunnel and into the Sinai Peninsula.
- Continue on to St. Catherine for dinner and overnight. (The route is approximately 6 hrs.)
Day 3: St. Catherine to Taba
- Rise before dawn to start the trek up Mt. Sinai, which rises to a height of approximately 7,500 feet. (Please note: This hike is very strenuous and for people who are very fit.)
- Once at the summit, you can rest and enjoy the dawn of a new day with the spectacular sunrise over the dramatic landscape.
- Descend, for breakfast at the hotel.
- After breakfast, visit the Monastery built in honour of St.Catherine, a Christian martyr who was sentenced to death by the Romans.
- Greek Orthodox monks take care of the monastery, which was built in the 6th Century at the foot of Mt. Sinai, at an altitude of some 5150 feet.
- Drive towards Taba, stopping in Nuweiba for lunch.

- Visit the catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, Pompey’s Pillar, the citadel from outside and the Great Library.
- Return to Cairo in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Cairo to Taba

Day 3: Luxor to Cairo
- An early morning start to tour Luxor with a visit to the West Bank of the Nile, – starting at the remote, barren, Valley of the Kings, which was the necropolis of the New Kingdom pharaohs. By digging their tombs, deep into the Theban Hills, pharaohs from Tuthmosis I onward hoped to stop thieves from stealing the priceless possessions buried alongside them.
- Visit Hatshepsut Temple, where against its stark, mountainous backdrop, the partly rock-hewn Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir al-Bahri is a breathtaking sight.
- The two enthroned statues of Amenhotep III, the Colossi of Memnon, are the first monuments that most visitors see arriving on the West Bank.
- Visit the East Bank- Karnak Temple, the main center of worship in ancient Egypt and Luxor Temple, which has huge columns and was dedicated to the god of Amun. One of its striking aspects is the remains of an ancient Christian Church and Abu Haggag Mosque. The 3 religions are represented in one place here.
- Depart Luxor to the train station to catch the overnight sleeper train to Cairo.
Day 4: Cairo to Taba
- Arrive in Cairo in the morning to start your tour.
- Tour ancient Cairo, starting with a visit to the Coptic Church and then visit the Synagogue of Ben Ezra, Cairo’s oldest synagogue.

1 DAY DAHAB
- Depart Taba border at 07:30, arriving in Dahab approx 10:00 a.m.
- Ride a “Quad Bike” to Genay Valley passing through desert landscapes for approx 2 hours.
- At 12:00 a jeep ride of about 20 minutes takes you to the ‘Blue Hole’ where you can snorkel and relax on the beach for approx 3 hours.
- At 15:00 return to Dahab by a half hour camel ride.
- At 15:30 have lunch at Ali Papa restaurant.
- At 16:00 Tour of Dahab city.
- At 17:00 Depart to Taba border.

CAIRO VISIT & NILE CRUISE ITINERARY – Sample Itinerary To/From Taba
Day 1: Taba to Cairo
- Depart Taba border 05:00 into Egypt, where you will be met and assisted by our Egyptian Rep.
- Drive to Cairo crossing the Sinai desert and under the Suez Canal.
- Upon your arrival, visit the Cairo Pyramids, the lion-headed Sphinx and the Valley Temple at Giza Plateau, listed amongst the Seven Wonders of the World.
- Afterwards visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, famous for its antiquities dating back some 50 centuries from Egypt’s Pharaonic period, including the fabulous Treasures of King Tutankhamen.
- Towards evening transfer to the train station for your overnight sleeper train heading south to the city of Aswan.
- Overnight on the train.

Day 2: Aswan
- In the morning, arrive in Aswan, a beautiful winter resort.
- The local rep welcomes you and transfers you to your 5* Nile River Cruise Boat.

- Proceed with visits to Aswan including the Temple of Philae and tour by felucca around Elephantine Island & the Botanical Garden.

Day 3: Kom-Ombo, Edfu and Esna
- Sail to Kom Ombo.
- Visit the Temple of Kom-Ombo dedicated to the Gods Sobek and Haroeris.

- Visit the Temple of the God Horus, son of Osiris, one of the most complete architectures in Egypt.
- Sail to Esna Lock.
- Arrive at Esna Lock. Cross Esna Lock and continue sailing to Luxor.

Day 4: Luxor (West Bank)
- Visit the West Bank of the Nile including The Valley of Kings, The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahari and the two colossi of Memnon.
- Valley of Kings: It was here that the bodies of kings such as Tutankhamen, Ramses II, Ramses IV, Tutmose III and many others, once lay.
- Valley of Queens: The total number of tombs is seventy. The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who was the only woman ever to rule as a Pharaoh consists mainly of three terraces linked by ramps.
- The Collossi of Memnon: These two huge statues of Amenhotep III, show Amenhotep seated on his throne with the two Nile gods of Upper and Lower Egypt, uniting the two lands.
- Overnight aboard the cruise in Luxor.

Day 5: Luxor (East Bank)
- Breakfast and Disembarkation from the cruise.
- Visits on the East Bank of the Nile including the Temple of Karnak and the Temple of Luxor.
- Karnak Temple: Covers an immense 100 acres (40.5 hectares). Of the 3 temple enclosures, the grandest is the Precinct of Amun, the main place of worship. The Great Hypostile Hall is 6000 sq. m and filled with immense stone pillars. The entire site has colossal statues, reliefs, obelisks and halls, and of course, the Avenue of Sphinxes. A processional path of ram sphinxes representing Amun leads into the temple. Between the forelegs of these rams is a small statue of Ramses II, Amun’s servant.
- Luxor Temple: is guarded by a huge statue of Ramses II, and although a fraction of the area of Karnak, it also contains, countless columns, statues and sphinxes.
- The local representative will assist and transfer you to the train station for your sleeper train heading north to Cairo.
- Overnight on the train.

Day 6: Cairo to Taba
- Arrive in Cairo. Our rep will welcome you and you and assist you in transferring to the vehicle for your ride back to Taba border

Crossing into Egypt from Eilat at the Taba Border
There is no need for a full Egyptian visa for tours to Sinai only which depart from Eilat (for most nationalities), as a stamp for the Sinai region is given free at the Taba Border, but there are some nationalities which MUST obtain the visa in advance of arrival. You should advise your nationality in order for us to check, or contact the Egyptian consulate where you live for more details. It is not usually possible to obtain a full Egyptian visa when crossing from Eilat at the Taba Border on your own, however, some Egyptian operators can assist clients on organized tours to obtain their visa at the border, with pre-registration for a fee of $25.
Flying directly to the Sinai
If you fly directly to Sinai, you only require a stamp for the Sinai region which is given free on arrival at Sharm el Sheikh or Taba airport. However, there are some exceptions whereby some nationalities MUST obtain a full Egyptian visa in advance of arrival, and you should advise your nationality in order for us to check, or contact the Egyptian consulate where you live for more details. If you are planning on travelling outside of the Sinai peninsula into the main part of Egypt you can usually obtain a full Egyptian visa at Sharm el Sheikh and Taba airports on arrival. This should be obtained prior to passing through Passport Control and a fee is charged.
Obtaining a full Egyptian visa to Egypt
- Travellers to Egypt can obtain a full Egyptian visa from the Egyptian consulate in their own country.
- Travellers can obtain a full Egyptian visa to Egypt at the Egyptian consulate in Eilat which is open from 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m. daily, except Friday and Saturday. 1 passport photo is required. The cost is 100 Shekels (approx $25) and processing is completed on the same day.
- Some Egyptian operators can assist clients on organized tours to obtain their full Egyptian visa at the border, with pre-registration for a fee of $25.
- Israeli citizens must obtain a visa at the consulate in Tel Aviv and processing may take 2 – 3 weeks.
Visa Fees and Border taxes
Visa fees, and border taxes for those travellers crossing the Taba Border, are not included in our tour prices. You must ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of departure. Be sure to have re-entry permission upon leaving Israel if required.
