A LITTLE ABOUT EILAT

Year round warm temperatures and magnificent coral reefs make Eilat a natural center for snorkeling and scuba diving activities. The city has a world class reputation for its high standards of hotel service and picturesque beaches.
The country’s No.1 Resort City is located on the northwest corner of the Red Sea, nestled in the Arava Valley between the Edomia Mountains of Jordan and the Negev Mountains of Israel.
Eilat boasts an average winter temperature of 80F (25 C) and while its average summer temperatures reach a soaring 95F (35 C), its humidity factor of about 20% still entices both tourists and native Israelis as a summer haven for vacationers.
Eilat is a popular bird-watching center due to its strategic location in the Rift Valley: a junction where birds from Eastern and Western Europe meet on their migration route from Europe to Africa in the autumn and on their return in the spring. For more information check out bird watching at Kibbutz Lotan.
Eilat, an ancient, biblical name, where the Queen of Sheba (what is today, Ethiopia) and her entourage rested and used as a way station en route to Jerusalem to visit King Solomon. This trip possibly led to one of history’s first recorded “Free-Trade Agreements” between King Solomon and Hiram, King of Sidon.
The Gulf of Eilat is the meeting point of 4 countries: Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Eilat has its own domestic airport in the center of the city, as well as charter flights from Europe arriving & departing regularly to the nearby airport of Ovda. This accessibility makes it an excellent location for starting or ending a tour of Israel.
