Eilat, an ancient, biblical name, where the Queen of Sheba (what is now probably Ethiopia) and her entourage rested and used as a way station en route to Jerusalem to visit King Solomon.This trip possibly led to one of history's first recorded "Free-Trade Agreements" between King Solomon and Hiram, King of Sidon.

The Gulf of Eilat is the meeting point of 4 countries: Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Eilat has its own domestic airport in the centre of the city, as well as charter flights from Europe arriving & departing regularly to the nearby airport of Ovda.
