Who would venture down to the desert ...
the utter end of the world - no water, no shade ...
Invest millions of dollars (in todays value), to build
a magnificent fortress on a lifeless mountain top?
Why would the Romans, having triumphantly destroyed
Jerusalem and the temple, direct an entire Roman legion to
march down to Masada in order to deal with a small group of
rebels that fortified themselves on such a remote mountain?
Why did the Romans, after they overtook the mountain, leave a Roman garrison
and then in the year 106, why did they decide to abandon it?
Who were these rebels, who faced the Roman army and fought till the bitter end?                                Where did the people of Masada get their water and food in this barren dry land ?

Journey to Masada to find out...

Fumes of sulphur exuding from the waters of the Dead Sea.
Arising out of this world - MASADA - massive fortification - lavish palaces
Withheld by a small commune of Jews against the mighty Roman army
Till it finally subdued in a tragic effort in the spring of the year 73 ADE
